Andrew is such an outgoing little kid. I'm not sure where he got that from, because I certainly am not. I mean, with no hesitiation he walks up to anybody and everybody he sees and strikes up a whole conversation with them. He asks them their name and a bazillion other questions. I just want to curl up inside, but most people are very sweet and chat right along with him. Some you can tell are a little weirded out, but still very polite. Then there was one lady who was so incredibly sweet today after therapy. We went for a short walk as a reward for working hard in therapy and as we were almost back to our car. He literally yells "Hello" to a lady walking out of a store to her car, probably 20 or 30 feet ahead of us. She was so sweet and came over to chat with us. Andrew proceeded to ask her a million questions, as he does with everyone. During our conversation, she became over come with emotion at what a sweet boy Andrew was and started to tear up. Then Andrew pulls out his "Oh please don't cry, You don't need to be sad. If you smile it will help you be happy." Which of course didn't help the situation and she started to cry even more. Then Andrew proceeded to ask her if she would like to join us for our walk. Most people, including me, would have politely declined and said they needed to get on their way. But this kind lady said "Sure, I'd love to join you." We chatted as we walked all the way to our car, which was totally out of her way. Man, I am sure grateful for people like that. She said we made her day, but really she made mine by taking an extra minute or two to have a conversation with a little boy.
Not sure if he saw or heard something in Primary he's done this a few times lately. If it's a cloudy day and the sun is starting to peek out behind the clouds, Andrew without a doubt will say in an excited voice, "Oh mommy!! Guess what I see??? Jesus! Look he's coming out of the clouds!"
He's been learning some words at school which, in our house we've classified as "bathroom words" where we only say those words while in the bathroom going potty. He's also been waaaaay into rhyming words. The combination of these two is not always good. Most of the time they are silly harmless words. But one day he starting saying "hot pot head" then shortened it to just "pot head" I gave him the usual. "Andrew we don't use those words......." then in his little innocent five-year old mind he replied. "Oh alright mom. I get it. Those are 'Kitchen words' right?
As we came down the stairs one morning, with the delicate dance of me holding one baby in one arm, Andrew's unstable hand with my other arm and another baby scooting down the stairs and trying to go in between our feet to beat us to the bottom of the stairs. Andrew looks up to me and in all seriousness asks.
A: "Mom can we get new Olivia and Kathryn babies?
M: "Why buddy? Why would you want new babies?"
A: "Well, these ones are just so crazy! They make me so wobbly and they take all my toys. I just want new ones"
It's funny because it's so true. They are starting to get stronger than Andrew and push him(unknowingly) around and of course they do take his toys. I think he was referring to "new ones" as those babies that just lay on the floor and kick and play....and sleep most of the time too!
He'd been complaining about his toe hurting and needing to walk extra slow one Sunday. After examining his foot before bedtime, we saw that he'd gotten a small cut on the bottom of his toe....which of course led to a band aid. That night as I tucked him into bed and before we said prayers. He asked, "mom do you think that Heavenly Father and Jesus have band-aids in heaven? "Where would they go to buy them mom? Do they have band aid stores in heaven too?"
We love to have the missionaries over or dinner. The pair of missionaries currently serving in our ward are a pair of elder, one of them, Elder Eggburt is Aftrican American. I made the mistake of making browinies for dessert. As we were cleaing up the dishes and getting dessert out, Andrew asked the missionaries if they wanted some brownies....then he proceeds to say to Elder Eggburt... "Hey you kind of look like a brownie! Can I call you brownie, or err I mean Elder Brownie!"
Love this kid!! He's such a crack-up!
