Last Minute Road Trip

We decided to be adventurous and make our first drive to Utah. Stephen's brother was getting married the first part of October and we had originally planned for just Stephen to fly down. But my mom offered to get a one way ticket and help me make the drive with the kids. So we took her up on the offer. The kids did great on the 12 hour drive and it was fun to spend a few days together before the wedding celebrations began.

We were able to head to the cabin for conference weekend and spend it with family! I don't remember the last time I spent conference weekend with my family. It seems like ages ago!

Poor Kathryn thought she could ride her trike right off the edge of the deck down the 6 steps....it didn't go so well. We are thankful that she only had a few scraps and bruses across her face and nothing else happened. I would say that I sure soaked in the cuddles she gave.

We of course had to do a girls lunch with my sisters and headed to Garner village for the day. After lunch we walked around and found some amazing witches. I had never been during the Halloween season, but the kids loved it and had fun seeing all the Halloween displays!

We enjoyed the beautiful fall weather and helped grandpa work in the yard...and a little playing too!!

After celebrating the girls birthday, Stephen flew in and we made the drive to Rexburg for the wedding!!  It was so wonderful to see our Holden Family. It had been over a year since we'd seen some of them. It was a quick and busy weekend though and I wished we had more time to just relax and catch up.

Stephen's youngest brother Jacob got married. The wedding was beautiful and the first time I'd been to the Rexburg Temple.

It was also the first time I met sweet Carolann! She's from a small town just outside of Rexburg so we all headed out there after the Temple. It was simply beautiful with the Tetons in the background!

What a beautiful fall day for a wedding!  We spent the rest of the day/evening with family and celebrating!

I think the kid's favorite part was when they turned on the music and just started to dance the night away. The poor girls were tired after a long full day with only a tiny nap. But they had a wonderful time and somehow stayed awake on the 45 minute drive back. The next morning we had to pack up and head back to Seattle! One day was not long enough to see Grandma & Grandpa and all the Holden cousins! We were all sad to leave and go our separate ways. The kids did amazingly great for the 11 hour ride home! Stephen and I would take all sort of road trips (long & short) before we had kids. Now they are getting a little bit older and we might have to do more of these! We love road trips!

My Babies Are TWO!!

Dear Kathryn,
You are TWO and little miss independent.  I love your smile, your chocolate brown eyes and kissing your sweet cheeks!!! I also love hearing you talk. You carry on the best conversations, but I especially love when you say "meme" (mommy).  You are a smart little girl and learning new words every day!!
You are totally obsessed with shoes especially if they make a sound when you walk. And I can hardly get you to wear anything else but dresses.
You love to help mommy in the kitchen when it's time to cook. You also are the best little eater and after clearing your plate and getting cleaned up, you usually climb back up to the table for a second round and sometimes a third. You love being cuddled in your towel after a bath and say "baby baby baby" meaning you want me to rock you like a baby. You no longer stay in your crib to sleep and have learned how to open doors which makes nap time and bed time crazy. You always want to be where the party is at, but never hold still more than 2 seconds. You are a daddy's girl and are the first one at the door when you hear the garage door opening. You love playing with Andrew and look up to him so much. You cry each morning when he leaves on the bus and ask,  "Andrew, where are you?" "Andrew come back!" You help him when he falls and ask him, "You okay, Andrew!?" You have the best belly laugh. You run super fast (I can hardly keep up) and you love to jump, climb, kick balls and dance all around. You are sneaky and mischievous, which makes me nervous about the 2-3 year old age. You don't like desserts, except for ice cream. You love to sing your favorite songs are. "I am a Child of God" "Itsy Bisty Spider" and "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam". I love your cuddles, but they are rare, so I treasure the short ones I get every now and then. You love to carry purses or bags over your should and fill them with treasures. You have a crazy attachment to your blankies, or "kankies" and carry them around all day long. You like to play outside and love to dig in the dirt and roll in the grass. You love to do puzzles, play with balls and pretend with dolls, but your most  favorite thing to do is to color or draw. You seem to always find Elsa and Anna no matter where we are. You LOVE the movie Frozen and will sing along to the songs.
I love seeing your eyes fill up with amazement as you learn something new.  You are a light and a joy in our family and have a compassionate heart for others around you. We love you little Boo!

Love, Mommy

Kathryn's Two Year Stats:

Height: 35 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 28 lbs 8 oz. (75th percentile)

Dear Olivia,

You are TWO and the sweetest little love bug!! You are so cuddly and give the best hugs and pucker up for the sweetest kisses around. You are definitely a mommy's girl and love to be held and cuddled. And although it's hard to get dinner ready one handed, I soak it all in. You love to get your self undressed and I find you all the time stripped down to your diaper.
You can be the biggest jabber box and love to talk (mostly jibberish), but you try to repeat everything we say. The words you do know, you say words quite clearly and are totally into labeling things. You recognize and know the color green and blue, the number 3 and stars and hearts. You love to count and it usually goes something like this..."1,2,3, 8,6,4,9,3,7,1..." and on and on. You are a smart little girl!!
You love to sing and always request "Popcorn Popping" "Skiddle me rink-a-dink" and "I am a Child of God" at bedtime. You love to be outside and ride your wiggle rider. You always like to color and can sit and look at books for a very long time. But your most favorite toy is your princess piano. You love to make music and dance to the songs. You are the cutest little dancer I know.  You wave you arms and skip around in a circle.
You are by far the pickiest eater in our family, but also the cleanest. You always love to use your fork and spoon and hate getting things on your hands and face.  You do love to eat rice, cold cereal, yogurt, chicken nuggets and almost all fruits and veggies.
You LOVE animals... especially dogs! You get so excited to see them!! On our walks you love to look at everything and are so observant! (Usually bugs, leaves or rocks) Whenever you hear them, you stop and point out airplanes in the sky. The swings are your absolute favorite at the park, you run to them first and could spend hours there! You can be a tease; to me, your brother and especially to Kathryn. You like to take the clean diapers and run away when I'm changing Kathryn and shutting the door on Kathryn to lock her into a room. You also think it's funny to take Andrew's toys when he's not looking and run away. You love to wear shoes just like your sister and refuse to take them off for bedtime. You are so aware of others feelings! Sometimes, you'll help find Kathryn's blankets when she's sad or you will share your toys without being asked.

I love your sweet smile and your arms as they wrap around my neck giving me the biggest hug! We love you Olivia!

Love, Mommy

Olivia's Two Year Stats:
Height: 33 1/2 inches (25th percentile)
Weight: 24 lbs 8 oz. (5th percentile)

These two are the best of friends! They have their hair pulling and toy taking moments, but those are quickly forgotten when you hear them laugh and giggle together, push each other around on toys, give endless hugs and kisses to each other and carry on conversations with each other in their twin jabber

It seems as though the only pictures i can take of these two together are from behind or when they aren't looking..they are too fast for the camera!

It was so fun to be able to celebrate your birthday with the Dent Family! We of course had to throw a big birthday party since we never get to celebrate birthdays with our cousins!

We had a big party the day before and of course we went with the Frozen theme since these girls are totally into everything FROZEN right now!

I had fun making their cakes. We totally let them smash into them again this year...why is that tradition restricted to just their first birthday?!? They loved it!!!

Here's the before...
Trying to take a picture with their birthday cakes was proof that these are two!

My mom and I had fun coming up with all the puns off the Frozen movie for the dinner menu!

We celebrated the night before so they had the present thing down to a science. So when they woke up and found more presents, They wanted to get right to work. Thankfully Stephen flew in early that day from Seattle and we only had to make them wait until 9:30am when he got there to open presents with Daddy. They were sure spoiled!!
They were in heaven when Aunt Allison gave them princess pj dresses and dress up shoes...Which must be worn at all times together....and every night!

I just love this age, where one present makes them so happy they just want to open it right up and could care less about the others wrapped up waiting to be opened...so we let them enjoy. I still can't believe we've survived two years with these girls! They are such a joy in our family! We love them!
