Preschool

Another year of Preschool started for this kiddo. I seriously can't believe it! Summer went by way to fast for us!

I kept trying to prep this kid that school would be starting soon!

We'd drive by his new school....that didn't really phase him.

We'd talk about his new teacher and the buses coming to pick him up....that also didn't phase him.

We took him shopping for school supplies....no big deal.

(We also learned this year what an expense it is to buy school supplies geesh....he's just in preschool!!)

But then two days before it started, they had a big open house & meet the teacher. That did it.

At first when we arrived, he was a little nervous that mommy was just going to leave him, but after he realized we weren't, he soaked it all in. He loved exploring his classroom, meeting his teacher and talking to a few of the other kids. Then from that point on, he was super excited and very hyper for the next few days!

The night before school started, we had a special back to school dinner! With his requested dessert of strawberry shortcake.

He got so excited and kept asking when the party could start.

The first day of school a piece of my heart confidently walked down the driveway and couldn't wait to hop up onto his seat on that big yellow bus! I was just as excited as he was and maybe a little nervous for him too. As soon as those bus doors closed and I waved goodbye, I honestly couldn't wait for his return to hear how his day went. I did great...not a tear.

Then about an hour later, just after school had started his teacher sent me this text.

Oh then the tears came.
I missed my little guy.
I couldn't be more excited for him because he LOVES school, but boy 8 hours of preschool, every day of the week, is a long time to be gone for a 4 year old....and his mommy.  It really sunk in that I only get a few hours in the afternoon/evening before he heads to bed each night. It was a very sad thought and the tears came some more. Then I looked down at these two...

Those smiles warmed my heart and I thought, it's a good thing they keep me busy and keep my mind on other things. But that first day seemed like it took forever before 3:30 rolled around.
He grew in so much last year! I'm so excited to see what this last year of preschool will bring!
